Hello everyone,
Welcome to The Mindful Psyc Journal.

We are so pleased to be able to hold and share this space with you all and hope that some of the topics and areas we share about and discuss here can promote reflection, conversation and behaviour change in the most positive way possible. This journal will contain entries from primarily Maddy, the Principal and Founding Clinical Psychologist of TMP but will also feature other clinicians and colleagues and their thoughts, opinions and reflections for your interest.

I think it is important to start this journal today by stopping and taking a moment to check in and see where everyone is at. I have been noticing fatigue presenting for me in these recent weeks. When fatigue sets in it can become very difficult to maintain motivation to talk to and reach out to others, identify our needs and wants or prioritise our self-care. When we stop connecting, caring and being compassionate towards ourselves it can significantly impact our overall lifestyle including food choices, engagement in exercise, relationships with others, physical health and of course mental health.

I believe that taking the time to “check in” is an incredibly powerful process. It gives permission to be a non-judgmental observer of where you are at without any requirement to change anything right now if you’re not ready; but gives permission to identify if you’re not okay or you’re beginning to experience these feelings of fatigue or maybe even burnout is the first step. Use this time to begin identifying what might not be great about your patterns and routines at the moment, note them down and then take some time to reflect on these.

Go gently,

Maddy
